Nowadays, many people have a large number of online friends through social media and other online platforms.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having lots of online friends?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. You should write at least 250 words.

Nowadays, there is a growing discussion about having lots of online friends. Many people have different opinions about this statement. Some people agree with it because they believe that it can bring many benefits to people and society, while others have the opposite opinions because they think that it also has some disadvantages or is not the best choice in every situation. Therefore, this essay will discuss both sides of the topic and give personal opinions.

On the one hand, it is clear that having lots of online friends can bring many benefits. The first advantage that needs to be discussed is that having lots of online friends is convenient because people will always have someone to talk or to share. For example, according to Dan Tri Newspaper, most people said that they get benefits from this. The second advantage that also should be taken into account is to increase the job opportunities. For example, when not knowing what to do or where to search for a suitable job, people can ask their online friends for support. Most friends on social media will have various connections, which allows them to easily get a number or a contact. Followed by the TopCV website, 30% of online jobs come from digital connection.

However, on the other hand, there are also some potential drawbacks of having too many online friends. One important disadvantage is that it is easily-broken. Normally a relationship needs certain time and efforts to form, which requires a lot of interactions and sharings. Having too many and fast connections with other people can be a double-edged sword. Another notable disadvantage is that without the presence of face-to-face interactions, people can behave very differently to their true actions. A person can chat nicely with others but in other times, they can talk behind their back or to spread rumours. Consequently, this can lead to certain conflicts resulting in cyberbullying or unwanted pictures or videos of fighting or toxic debating.

In summary, everything has its own merits and demerits; however, I think that the drawbacks have outweighed its benefits. If suitable approaches are applied, I believe this trend will continue to grow and contribute to creating a better life for many people.

However, on the other hand, others would prefer that [Quan điểm B] for some reasons. One important point is that it is + tính từ + because …. Another notable reason is that it is + tính từ + because …. Looking at a report from ABC News, many people shared that they get disadvantages/advantages from (this / lý do 2) + and (phần sau because / tính từ). Hence, people can [nêu ảnh hưởng mở rộng] (B2).

4. Kết bài (Conclusion):

Cách 1 (Nghiêng về 1 quan điểm):

In summary, everything has its own merits and demerits; however, in my opinion, I would prefer that [quan điểm A/B] to [quan điểm còn lại].

Cách 2 (Đánh giá cân bằng cả 2 quan điểm):

I think both opinions are suitable because [danh từ từ quan điểm A] is [tính từ/lý do] while [danh từ từ quan điểm B] is [tính từ/lý do]. If people have right approaches to each viewpoint, people’s life quality will be improved significantly.
