Nếu như ở mức độ B1 thí sinh thường chỉ dừng lại ở các câu trả lời ngắn gọn với lý do đơn giản, thì ở band B2 bạn cần biết cách vận dụng các chiến thuật phát triển câu nói linh hoạt như nói nước đôi, liên hệ quá khứ – hiện tại hay mở rộng 3W1H. Chiến thuật trọng tâm + Diễn giải chi tiết nâng band
Các chiến thuật diễn giải chi tiết nâng band điểm từ B1 lên B2:
- Chiến thuật nói nước đôi: Đưa ra hai trường hợp tùy theo hoàn cảnh thực tế (sử dụng “It depends on…”, “When I have free time… but when I’m busy…”).
- Chiến thuật giải thích + 3W1H: Trả lời lý do cụ thể và mở rộng thêm thông tin về Ai (Who), Ở đâu (Where), Khi nào (When), Bằng cách nào (How).
- Chiến thuật liên hệ quá khứ – hiện tại: So sánh sự thay đổi về thói quen, suy nghĩ theo thời gian (sử dụng “I used to… but now…”).
- Chiến thuật liên hệ hiện tại – tương lai: Trình bày cảm nhận hiện tại và bày tỏ mong muốn, kế hoạch trong tương lai (sử dụng “In the future, I hope that…”).
TOPIC 1: GOING OUT (Đi chơi)
1. How often do you go out with your friends or family?
Band B1: I usually go out with my friends/ I go out with my friends once a week because it is interesting.
“It depends on my schedule. When I have free time, I usually spend it hanging out with my friends or my family. (but) When I’m swamped with work, I just want to stay at home and try to finish my tasks.”
2. Who do you usually spend your free time going out with?
Band B1: I usually spend my free time going out with my best friend./ It’s my best friend because it can help me reduce stress.
“I love hanging out with my best friend because she is very humorous and supportive. Besides, she always help me solve my personal problems. We love going to the shopping malls and coffee shops every weekend.”
3. What kind of people do you enjoy going out with most?
Band B1: It’s thoughtful people because it is safe and comfortable.
“I used to prefer going out with introverted people because I feel shy and I want to be in a peaceful atmosphere. But now, I tend to hang out with extroverted ones since they are funny and they will push me out of my comfort zone.”
TOPIC 2: PAINTING & DRAWING (Hội họa & Vẽ tranh)
1. What type of paintings or artworks do you like most?
Band B1: It’s VNese paintings/landscape paintings because it is beautiful and peaceful.
“I am a big fan of modern paintings because it is very vibrant and trendy. In the future, I hope that I can have more time to visit all art galleries in Vietnam with my boyfriend.”
2. Do you have a hobby of drawing or painting?
Band B1: Yes because it can make me relaxed after a long and busy day.
Band B2 (Chiến thuật liên hệ tới quá khứ – hiện tại):
• Cách 1 (Trả lời Có): “Of course. Actually, I used to hate drawing when I was in primary school because it’s boring and time-consuming. But now, I’m interested in it, and I think it is a good way to stay calm and be more patient.”
• Cách 2 (Trả lời Không): “Not really. Actually, I used to draw a lot when I was in primary school because it’s compulsory. But now, I prefer enjoying other’s artworks instead of drawing because I think it’s time-consuming.”
3. Do you think learning how to draw or paint is beneficial for people? Why or why not?
Band B1: Yes because it is very fun, and it can help people improve skills.
“Definitely yes because it can help people improve their attention ability and boost creativity. In the future, I hope that there are more art subjects in schools for kids.”
TOPIC 3: CARTOONS (Phim hoạt hình)
1. Do you enjoy watching cartoons?
Band B1: Yes because it can help me reduce stress.
“Of course, I am big fan of animated movies because they are fun and interesting. Besides, it can help me unwind and recharge my battery after a long day at work.”
2. What kind of cartoons do you usually watch?
Band B1: It’s Disney films because it’s interesting and beautiful.
“Sometimes, when I feel stressed, I always find short and funny cartoons to watch. But when I have time, I love staying at home and watching long movies on Disney channel.”
3. Do you think cartoons are only for children? Why or why not?
Band B1: Not really because it’s very meaningful for adults.
“I think cartoons are suitable for both children and adults because some of the cartoons are actually very meaningful and thought-provoking. They can teach adults a lot of useful lessons or help them reconnect to their inner child.”
